Honoring student achievement and hard work is the purpose of the President's Education Awards Program. Since 1983, the program has provided individual recognition from the President and the U.S. Secretary of Education to those students whose outstanding efforts have enabled them to meet challenging standards of excellence.
Presidential Award for Educational Excellence -to be eligible, students must earn a grade point average of 90 on a 100 point scale. (A on the letter scale.) This student must also score in the 90th percentile or above on a standardized test with the core total in Mathematics or Reading. Eligibility is established in Grade 4. Students must maintain eligibility in Grades 5 thru 8. If these high standards are continued through the first semester in Grade 8, the student will be awarded official recognition at graduation.
